Just found your blog and it is adorable!! I just downloaded your playdough letters. I was just telling a teacher today that I would love to find a font that I could type up their name and let them do that in playdough. Do you remember what font you used for these letters? Thanks so much!

The alphabet was made using the Futura Bk BT font. I think it is just a standard microsoft font.

OMG!!! I love the open house ideas. Since I make crafts, I thought I would make an apple to go to the parents. A little something personal from me to them.

Thank you for the great ideas! What do you put in your folders?

I love this! I use centers in my classroom to keep the kids from all being in one spot, why did I never think to do the same thing for open house? With this set up the parents do not have to be bunched up at the door and they will be too busy to talk to me about much! Thank you!

I noticed that your kidney table is covered with something. I thought it was really cute and would like to do that in my classroom. Just curious what you used to cover it and did it hold up well? My name is Kim.

GReat ideas -- thanks for sharing -- open house is a month from tomorrow!

Kim, I use a vinyl table cloth. I just use double sided tape for the rectangle tables and for the kidney tables I cut the cloth and tape it under the table with strapping tape or duct tape.

Clever and organized! You guys are great! I was wondering what the folders with each students name has inside? thanks! Audrey

Kim and Megan said...

Audrey that has all the forms that we send home with the parents. If you go to my website adsit.net, you will see the download section. There I have a copy of all the letters.

Hi,

This is a really cute idea for Back to School Night. I have a question. As the parents are walking around from center to center, what are you doing? Are you talking to individual parents or are you just standing at a particular station? I would love to do this next year. Thank you for your ideas!

I usually am taking pictures! I like to get pictures of the children with their "families" and one of each child by themselves. This is a good way to get to chat with each family and not get "stuck" with someone that wants to take all your time.

I love your ideas! I'm always running around trying to make sure the parents signed everything and got what they needed (and didn't take what is supposed to stay)....two years ago, I even had a parent switch her child's chair, not to mention all the parents who want their children's names spelled differently! It's crazy and your ideas will help make the chaos a little more organized! THanks!

Thank you for sharing all of your wonderful ideas. I really like the idea of centers for the parents. This is the first year we will be doing open house on the first day of school so I am going to try some of these things. Thank you again.

Hi Kim! I purchased a copy of your Open House scavenger hunt earlier this year. I adapted it to better fit my classroom design and what the flow for that day will be. Is it okay for me to use that and possibly make it into a TPT file with credit to you for the adaptation? I wanted to email you, but couldn't find a specific contact page or information.

Thanks in advance
Allison
