I use this system for the last few years and it has helped sooooooo much in the management part of my class!!! We love it and the kids really do get so excited when I get to wear their clip!! :)
Love! I use a chart very similar and I've had great response from the parents. I told them right from the start that it's not common for the kiddos to clip all the way up so they're ok with it. The daily communication is great too!
I started this system in the 2nd 9 weeks of school and my kiddos LOVE it! I still have my few who end up on orange or red, but the rest try really hard. I had my first kiddo make it to the "top of the chart" last week and now the others are FREAKING out! So hopefully there will be more. I like your behavior chart for the parents. Mine has ALL 9 weeks and they color in the day, however, some don't pay attention and color in the wrong space. That looks much more simple!
Cute, cute. I use something very similar and have seen/read about moving their clip up even higher. I am glad to hear that she did have to have some "talks" with some parents, because that is exactly what I thought might happen. Might have to give it a whirl!! Thanks! Robynn BusyBees
We use the color system. We have always allowed kids to earn it back...Usually the system is great. This year it is NUTS. I don't think it is a faulty system at all. I think it is my class. (at least that is what I tell myself) But I think each class is different! I love the off the chart idea. Mine just go into rockstar mode...I think wearing their name on my shirt would take it up a notch so I am stealing that great idea!!! We have behavior folders too and we have one month at a time. It is great for teaching calendar skills as the kids have to color their own chart each end of day. (first grade though) Thanks for the great post! When you come to San Antonio I want to meet you!!! Or the general area. I will travel too! p.s. Can you guest teach my class?! ;) Have a great week!
We started using a system like this but our administration is asking us to consider not having any type of "chart" because it seems to her like the kids are overly-focused on what color (or animal) their clip is on at the end of the day. Any suggestions?
I am so excited! This Wednesday I will have the pleasure of attending your conference in Orlando and I am BEYOND stocked! :) Can't wait to hear all the goodies you have to share with us!
I'm a first year teacher and I love this idea... I just have a few questions. What kind of behavior do you consider worthy of moving up on the chart? Also, when you mark what their behavior was, do you just mark what it was at the end of the day or what it was throughout the day if they moved multiple times?
I'm using a ticket system currently (green, yellow, yellow, red, black) and thinking of adding in a purple and/or orange so they can "move up" that way. Ideas? Suggestions?
Last thing - I love your blog! I've been blog-stalking you for a while and I love your ideas! Thank you so much! :)
We use a ticket system in our building (as the comment above described), but I love this idea! The animal names are great:) Do you have the recording sheet for parents available for download? I am planning to attend the Ohio Kindergarten Conference next month and looking forward to hopefully attending your sessions!
I love this system! I wanted to use this for this school year but couldn't because my school requires a weekly conduct grade... Any suggestions for a grading system?
Thanks for sharing! Love this behavioral plan. It is always nice to give them an incentive to improve their behavior. I too am very excited because a friend and I will be attending your DI for the Little Guy Workshop in Orlando on Wednesday. I have seen you several times before at various Kindergarten Conferences and am looking forward to seeing you again and hearing what wonderful ideas you have for us to use in our classrooms.

Is the clip art a purchased one? AND if so . . . . . will you share which one Megan is using?
